The MAN truck was used by the light infantry batalion 511, which were located in the Briesen barracks in Flensburg-Weiche. It existed from 1958 to 1997 on the German-Danish border. The square around the barracks has a turbulent history. After a kibbutz was violently closed in 1938, the airfield next to the site was expanded. At the end of the war, the German aircraft were collected here and Field Marshal Montgomery landed here to arrest the government of Dönitz. In the vicinity of the military training area, the commander of Auschwitz was also put through by the British.
