I see these ship builders and the PE they work with and my mind reels.

Good to know I expected this to be a great kit so abit desapointed to hear that it has fitment issues

I think that first attempt may have been due to excessive flash on the parts. I made sure to sand all the ends smooth on the latest attempt. But, having said that, those middle pipe pieces are too short! Nothing some brass tube can't correct.

Well, if you find a pair of tweezers that don't pinch and launch PE pieces into oblivion, let me know! 😉

My house!!
I actually was able to fit the PE piece into place. You can barely see it, but it's there. 🙂

really nice work - and Tamiya 1/20 F1 kits; the straight exhaust tubes rarely line up to my liking - of course , it could just be me...

No, pretty sure it's that early Tamiya engineering. But they got better.

About the engine and the exhaust tubes, the moulds are 50 years old. It still is the best Ford engine available (and afordable). I now the building of the exhaust its tricky and needs some cleaning and putty but there is nothing better.

The Ebbro DFV is pretty good. But Tamiyas is definatley better than Aoshimas BMW exhaust/ turbo for their BT52s......those are ........"tricky".

It all almost came to an end when I realized I had put the butt end/ tail light piece on upside down ( apparently the concept of different sized guide holes hadn't gotten as far as Tamiya by 1978). Thankfully, I was able to pry off the piece and correct the mistake.

Ugh, so that thing is done. That kit REALLY shows its age. Besides the exhaust troubles, that whole rear wing assembly is a headache and the front suspension is really quite bad. Not to mention having to continually go back and wipe finger prints off everything.....but that might be my fault 😉

Butiful build inspite the challenge I am happy to find its not the same kit I got
The kit I got is the type 79 so a different kit kit
But still as your kit has no decals for tyres

Yeah, Tamiya got better over the years 😉 . Sadly, they didn't feel like paying Goodyear there for a while. I tried some Goodyear stencils I have, but they didn't fit the 78s little front tyres. I poached a set with the raised letters from an older 78 kit to finish this one, but I haven't given up hope on this kits tyres as they are WAAY better. I have another set of stencils on order and hopefully they'll fit the small front tyres. Fingers crossed.

Well your result is very butiful anyways
Also a butiful car
I like the exposed engine
The 79 kit the engine is not seen
