Nice effect on the cut armor ends. I assume they would have cut these plates with big torches at the factory. Can't see any other practical way to do it, but maybe the German engineers came up with a really big and sharp pair of scissors.

Thanks, John. I heard they bred specially trained giant rats for the job.

I think an ambush scheme would look good. But whatever the case, I'll bet you're thankful for steel rimmed roadwheels. I'd get a headache painting all the rubber rims if it wasn't.

Thanks, Rui. John, painting is not the issue. Sanding the mould line off the rims was, though. Give that each wheel needed a cutting pass and a polishing pass, that's 64 wheels in total. It took three evenings and left the end of my finger sore for a week after having all those bolt heads digging in to it. I'm taking a brief break to do a bit of research for the next stage of painting. What colour would those engine fans have been?

Thanks, gents. I'm debating whether to add dots (or some other shape) of the three colours to the camo scheme. I'll also have to remove the side armour to tidy up the edges a bit.

I didn't realize those wheels had rubber rims after all, so you not only had to sand them but paint the rims as well. Ouch!

Not rubber but steel. I'll use steel pigment to give them a metallic shine. It worked well on my KV-1.

Looking good. I need to get a similar lamp. Lighting is always an issue for me. That won't help to make my bench as orderly as yours though.

@ John. I was always working in my own light. Picked that lamp up used on ebay for around 40% of the full price. I have to keep the bench fairly tidy as there's not all that much room and I've nowhere else to put the stuff.

What's the but owning fluid you are using? In spite of the bubble trouble you had, the results are fantastic.

I'm wondering if a cheaper alternative might be diluted vinegar with some pigment in it.

@ playtime 222. Yes, it gives whitemetal tracks a rusted & blackened surface. It does take a bit of work, though.
