Looking good so far Dan!

I have the nice Caracl decals. Should be a MSIP II however, not counting the rivets and going to build it as is. There is a Wolfpack conversion but cannot find one as they are out of production. Like hen's teeth!
Trying to find a colour for the compartment behind the cockpit. Metallic blue colour? Only have Vallejo Model Air and some Tamiya. On the Tamiya version of the F-15C is says X-13?
Going to try your technique with to try and get things seamless on the intakes. However, there are some annoying location tabs inside the intakes. Hopefully you will not see them!

Found out from a US friend who worked on Eagles at Lakenheath/Mildenhall that after 1980 the avionics bays were painted white not the elusive blue green metallic colour. Phew. That was starting to stress me out! Good old XF-2.

Looks good. How is the intake fit?

Its good if a little fiddly. There was a little bit of flash on the model and with Hasegawa hard plastic it effects he fit a lot. So some time with a Citadel seem line remover and sanders and they sit fairly well. Going to have to fill the joins. Considering being lazy and putting FOD covers on as the inside of the intakes have a lot of lumps and bumbs on them. Including the locating pins. Why they did not put them on the outside of the intakes I do not know!

Just seen some FOD covers by QMT going to use them rather than mess with the intakes.

Probably a better idea. I once made an intake cover from paper towel, aluminium foil, and water with white glue. Looks great and easy to make. There was an article somewhere on ARC Air Center.

Just means I do not have to mess about painting and filling and all that. Can build and leave them pretty rough. Means I can get on too. Would have been a lot of boring work to get them seamless. You know if it needs any weight in the nose?

Yes, it does need weight in the nose. Hasegawa 1/72 F-15D/DJ manual tells to add 3g weight to the nose cone. So it's going to be more for a 1/48 kit.
I'm also planning to cover the intakes on my Tamiya 1/32 Tomcat. When intakes and the lower fuselage are assembled, insides look very strange. So I decided to use the limited time and energy for more visible assemblies of the kit.

Might have to mock up before I put the cockpit halves together to test it. Will start with 15 grams I think.

No weight needed It sits pretty well. might just chuck 5 grams in just to be safe.
