October 11, 2022The propeller and rudder arrangements of the preserved Holland No1 at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport.7
October 11, 2022The parts, it even comes with a small pe fret.8
October 11, 2022Fit is excellent sofar. Parts are fiddly, and flash is all around, but the plastic is friendly to work with.9
October 12, 2022Very clever design by Mikromir, by molding it this way you are able to clean the ring without the risk of breaking it, as the inner is quite rigid.10
October 12, 2022The rudder and propeller in place. To make life easier I substituted the etched parts for evergreen strip.11

October 12, 2022Rudders complete13
October 12, 2022"Tower"14
October 12, 2022I replaced a few bits of pe for evergreen, as one part flew off, never to be seen again...15
October 12, 2022Rudder actuators and exhaust(?) in place16
October 13, 2022Ready for paint.
I've added all of the small pieces as well, hope I won't regret it when painting.
Most will be painted by hand, as it is quite small.17
October 13, 202218
October 13, 2022First steps in painting19
October 14, 2022Second layer of white20
October 14, 2022Third (and final?) layer of white.21
October 14, 2022Creating the rather large flag using foil and the kits decals. The flag came as one large decal, which I cut in half.22
October 14, 2022The first half is placed on the foil, with a generous amount of microsol and left to dry23
October 14, 2022Flag cut out24
October 14, 2022Opposite side applied with liberal amounts of microsol.25
October 14, 2022Painting straight freehand is harder than I thought26
October 14, 2022Got 'some' touching up work to do...27
October 14, 2022Other grey added, it is a slow process, but quite Zen28
October 14, 2022Flag after a coat of flat varnish29
October 14, 2022And waving in the sea breeze30
October 14, 2022Basic painting is done, next step are all of those decals, and after both decals are on, weathering31
October 14, 202232
October 15, 2022Decals are on, flood holes picked out in black and exhaust got a first wash.33
October 15, 2022Trying to create a wood effect on the base34
October 15, 2022Flag pole to be35
October 15, 2022First steps in weathering36
October 15, 202237
October 15, 202238
October 15, 2022More weathering done, trying hard not to overdo it39
October 15, 202240
October 15, 2022There is a small clear lens on the periscope, but it is hardly visable in the picture41
October 15, 2022Finished flag, needs another dull coat to look right.42
October 16, 2022Glued to the base, and left to dry, supported by Tamiya and Mig43
October 22, 2022I'm calling it done.
Better pictures will follow when all is dry.44
October 22, 202245
October 22, 2022It is really dwarfed between the other subs in the cabinet46
