HMS Holland No1 1903Ver : Diapositivas Mosaico Lista 1October 11, 2022The subject of this build, HMS Holland No.1 The first submarine of the British navy. 2October 11, 2022Designed by American John Phillip Holland – after whom it was named 3October 11, 2022A colourized period image. 4October 12, 2022 5October 12, 2022 6October 11, 2022The propeller and rudder arrangements of the preserved Holland No1 at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport. 7October 11, 2022The parts, it even comes with a small pe fret. 8October 11, 2022Fit is excellent sofar. Parts are fiddly, and flash is all around, but the plastic is friendly to work with. 9October 12, 2022Very clever design by Mikromir, by molding it this way you are able to clean the ring without the risk of breaking it, as the inner is quite rigid. 10October 12, 2022The rudder and propeller in place. To make life easier I substituted the etched parts for evergreen strip. 11October 12, 2022 12October 12, 2022Rudders complete 13October 12, 2022"Tower" 14October 12, 2022I replaced a few bits of pe for evergreen, as one part flew off, never to be seen again... 15October 12, 2022Rudder actuators and exhaust(?) in place 16October 13, 2022Ready for paint. I've added all of the small pieces as well, hope I won't regret it when painting. Most will be painted by hand, as it is quite small. 17October 13, 2022 18October 13, 2022First steps in painting 19October 14, 2022Second layer of white 20October 14, 2022Third (and final?) layer of white. 21October 14, 2022Creating the rather large flag using foil and the kits decals. The flag came as one large decal, which I cut in half. 22October 14, 2022The first half is placed on the foil, with a generous amount of microsol and left to dry 23October 14, 2022Flag cut out 24October 14, 2022Opposite side applied with liberal amounts of microsol. 25October 14, 2022Painting straight freehand is harder than I thought 26October 14, 2022Got 'some' touching up work to do... 27October 14, 2022Other grey added, it is a slow process, but quite Zen 28October 14, 2022Flag after a coat of flat varnish 29October 14, 2022And waving in the sea breeze 30October 14, 2022Basic painting is done, next step are all of those decals, and after both decals are on, weathering 31October 14, 2022 32October 15, 2022Decals are on, flood holes picked out in black and exhaust got a first wash. 33October 15, 2022Trying to create a wood effect on the base 34October 15, 2022Flag pole to be 35October 15, 2022First steps in weathering 36October 15, 2022 37October 15, 2022 38October 15, 2022More weathering done, trying hard not to overdo it 39October 15, 2022 40October 15, 2022There is a small clear lens on the periscope, but it is hardly visable in the picture 41October 15, 2022Finished flag, needs another dull coat to look right. 42October 16, 2022Glued to the base, and left to dry, supported by Tamiya and Mig 43October 22, 2022I'm calling it done. Better pictures will follow when all is dry. 44October 22, 2022 45October 22, 2022It is really dwarfed between the other subs in the cabinet 46November 13, 2022Final pictures of the Holland class submarine. 47November 13, 2022 48November 13, 2022 49November 13, 2022 50November 13, 2022 51November 13, 2022 52November 13, 2022 53November 13, 2022 Comentarios27 November 2024, 08:49 - Album infoMusic to go with this model: "Cult" by ApocalypticaHolland Class Submarine53 imágenes1:144TerminadoHolland No. 1 Royal Navy (1546-now)1903 Todos los álbumesVer todos los álbumes »
