you could make a mask and airbrush it.... CCCP should not reasonably easy, and it may look better that some decals. but of course try in some irregular piece of plastic first 😉

Think I'll try and make 4 individual decals so they don't go over the ridges of the helmet. Was hoping that I could find some red Letraset, but alas that is showing my age.
