U96 Das Boot

The real U96  

The poster that came with the kit is now hanging on the wall of the hobby room
I have just found out the U-boot on the poster is in fact U-572, not U-96.
The picture has been taken from the bridge of U-96 by Buchheim, who was on board of U-96 as a war correspondent. The picture is printed in his book U-boot krieg.

The 2cm flak gun that goes on the Wintergarten. I've drilled the muzzle and sanded the handwheel to open it up.

Decals removed and over painted, this is the model of a movie prop, so it should have the (wrong) markings from the movie. 

 

Rust streaks added  

Changed the decals back to the ones from the kit, as this is the movie edition for the 40th anniversary 

 

 

Flag, half wrapped around the mast, made from evergreen rod and a flag from Eduard. 

Getting there... slowly 🙂
