Ok... count me in. Since I'm waiting on a few eBay deliveries, I'm thinking I might join you in an Citroen dual (not duel) build. You up for that?😉

It will end in a duel. Chris will build a shiny brand new looking 2CV. Greg's will be teeming with ohms, amps and watts, instead of a 2hp engine have warpengines AND a Tintin decal on the hood!

Well... probably not... since my plan is to try another paper-model downsized to 1/72 scale. 😉. the Citroen shape is suitably boxy and simple enough to try. I'm more thinking it might be handy to watch someone building a real kit with parts and things at the same time instead of just making it up as I go along like usual...😉

I masked for the rim of the windows, because that's what I was most disappointed in on the camper. Didn't do anything else today.... too busy binge watching crap TV 😛

Can anyone interpret the color code within the ()'s for me, I get the paint color "X-2" but what does the ":20" mean, and the additions to each other. Thanks

Hans is right. It's the paint ratio.
If you are going for that colour, be sure to mix too much. Too little and you'll never get it exactly the same again....

Thanks guys! I afraid of mixing ratios for the reason Martin says...making too little for the whole project... or wasting a ton by making toooooo much. But thanks for the heads up.

Better to make too much, for the reason Martin says. I usually mix at least 5ml (half of a Tamiya bottle) of a "new" ratio colour and save it for next time. But I also pre-mix (with thinner) airbrush ready paints and put them in little plastic squirt bottles. So mixing some other paint colours fits right in.

The thing is, I think I use way too much paint then I need to in general (how do I know?) because I'm worried about not getting even/the same color between parts... for example on a regular sized 1:24 body, me hitting the 80-100 drop mark is not uncommon, then I add 40-50 drops of thinner and Flow... Everyone says less is more... This has always been a question of mine... any helpful advice? Do my numbers seem super high? I'd love not to go through stupid frickin' expensive paint supplies if I'm accidentally spraying too much. Cheers mates 😄

Let's play color that part in #4, the instructions call for this part to be a solid black and for the center of the piece, I'm cool with it being black, but there are 4 shocks and 2 thingi-ma-bobs on the sides. What should the larger/smaller portions of the shocks be? and hit me with some knowledge, what are the thingi-ma-bobs? and what should the center and ends of the thingi-ma-bobs be colored?

lol, I can see your point when I look at the Citroen box art... and that gangtsa vehicle is dope. Any Idea if it's an actual car or just a custom creation?

I'm frightened that I can immediately recognize the Citroen being American. To many films on Saturday afternoon?

It might be, but checking out your build as I go is quite helpful. The shell is easy enough to understand, but looking at the undercarriage parts you just painted has given me some ideas. 🙂

Reminds me of my student days`Ente: I could open the heating in fall and close it in springtime, had to open the bonnet each time as the lever in the car interior was stuck every time I tried it. Good luck! Watching .........

Had a little bit of an accident... I snipped out 4 small ember lights for the front then I had a GIANT surprise sneeze attack, they flew off to the ends of the universe. 🙁 BUT I'm done! Setting up the photobox for pics.

I lost a 5*5 mm clear part today. Dropped it into another dimension I guess. Nowhere to be found on the floor.
No sneeze pics please!

Yeah, that sucked. But this was a really nice kit to build... I love Tamiya. I also wished my gluing skills were a bit better, gunked up the windows a little, but like I said... I had fun, that's what matters 😄 and thanks everyone... The next project will the Blue Shark beast, a Scania R620 truck... SO EXCITED!

Nice work Chris! I use G-S Hypo Tube Cement for clear parts. They use it in the watch repair/ jewelry biz. Does not fog parts at all. You can get it on Amazon...

Hans, that looks like a cool product, I like that you can clean up while it's still wet, but it's $30 for the 2 parts liquid and shipping... but will TOTALLY keep this product in mind, very versatile. Nathan $6 for a tube of G-S... ordered and I'll try it when it gets here 🙂

I use Testors window maker/glue. It dries clear. It wicks all the way around crevices and does not fog clear or chrome parts like the super glue Cyanoacrylates. Though I have had reduced fogging if you blow on the parts not to speed drying but to simply blow away the chemical fumes which cause the fogging.

Dipping the clear parts in Future will keep them from fogging with CA glue... but it's no defence against shaky fingers.😉

You can also use PVA glue (wood glue) dries clear, cheap as chips and defiantly doesn't fog. Nice build by the way👍

Will keep in mind, I bought some G-S cement on Nathans mention. But I know I have wood glue out on the toolbench, definitely cheap as chips (but not as tasty 😛 ) and thanks!
