SAAB B-18 (A & B version)

Two resin kits for the price of one!
 

Kits is mixed in two boxes, seems to be the same mould at least…
 

Let’s start the sorting, there is a small colour variation of the resin dependent on kit, otherwise is only the engines, props and nacelles that differs
Contacted Kora that helped me out with the clear parts 

SAAB B-18A - Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp engines of 1065 hp. 

SAAB B-18B - Daimler Benz DB 605 of 1475hp (some were licensed-built versions made by Svenska flygmotor AB). 

Started with clean-up of the major parts. Some small air bubbles in the resin but overall nice moulds.
Dry fitting in progress. Need to improve the ventilation working with resin… 

Nacelles on the wings, starting with the B version of the plane.
Decent fit but there is quite some small air bubbles in the resin to take care off. 

Cabin in progress, need some fitting work in order to be properly aligned with the canopy 

Same mould, different outcome. Windows missing in the front area on one airframe. Will used clear styren for the windows going forward  

Both pair of wings (A & B version) ready for assembly to the airframe  

Nacelles and landing gear setup, metal and resin part will do the trick 

 

Airframe and wings in place, starts to look like a plane 

 

 

Front part of airframe detailed and ready for the glas part. The vacu nose part had some severe fitting issues, but after some hours of sanding, dry fitting , frustration and bad language things finally went ok. Tested Gauzy agent for the first time in order to improve the ”glass” with good result. 

So, tail is now ready and the nose part is in progress. Next phase is to finalize cockpit and canopy
