Early Hasegawa Russian Mig-21 Fishbed C

April 22, 2020Cleanup begins.2
April 22, 2020Found an ersatz 'burner can'. Going to replace the anemic pilot.3
April 22, 2020Wings mostly cleaned up. Will need to fix a small sink mark on the port aileron.4
April 22, 2020One fuselage half will need the short-shot starboard MLG wheel bay fixed, the other has several small sinkholes.5
April 23, 2020Had to cut the ends off the stab actuator connector. Probably would not have been as much of a PINA if I had a way to clamp it into a small miter box!6
April 23, 2020The outer stab - fuselage join area is going to need to be filled.7
April 23, 2020Got both plugs ground down enough to get my 'burner can' substitute into the tail end. The white block is a support to superglue it into place and hold it.8
April 23, 2020Shoot! Wasn't paying as much attention as I should have and the backing I was putting on for the inner Main Landing Gear door shifted!! Well, lucky that I got plenty of scrap plastic but still more work...9
April 23, 2020Still difficult to beat Squadron putty for minor sink marks & imperfections!10
April 24, 2020A long way to go but the new pilot looks happy enough! ;-D11
April 25, 2020Went to put a coat of paint in the cockpit area last night and the batch I mixed up was more an Olive Drab color than Russian Turquoise! That's OK - I'll find an instruction sheet for the Tamiya mix tonight and give it another go.12
April 26, 2020This old Revell 1/144 Boeing 747 stand will do fine as a stable mount for this little 1/72 MiG-21F-13! It wasn't until after I was almost done putting it together that I remember the Zvezda kits have a very nice stand that I could have used!!13
April 27, 2020Reinforced the area around the fuselage were I put the orifice for the stand. Less chance of it doing the Wibbly Wobbly dance!! ????

Album info
Going to be built as a gear up desktop type model. I have an unused old Revell 747 stand that should work just fine for a display base.
