Ex nihilo aliquid fit, that's been my motto since I was 8 years old. I started with airplanes, later tanks, figures, warships and motorcycles. I came very early in contact with the German Sci-Fi series Perry Rhodan, because my father was a SF fan. So we also saw Star Trek, Space1999 and many other SF & Fantasy series on TV. I then got more and more in touch with building science fiction models. My first model was the Star Trek Enterprise from TV, which I built for one of my brothers. After the first Star Wars movie, which I saw in a cinema with the biggest screen in Europe in Berlin, the original movie from 1977, I switched more and more to building science fiction models. Then figures from science fiction and fantasy were added. Increasingly I was bored with the discussions about how to build a real model and which dimensions are correct. That was not my world. In 1982 I came in contact with S.F.3.D, now Ma.K., and collected all the kits. This series impressed me a lot because there were many innovations and as a fan of Robert Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" the battlesuits somehow reminded me of it. After Nitto stopped the production of S.F.3.D, I am working with a small group of fans in Germany, UK, USA and Australia to revive it. In the 90's I came in contact with Nitto and Kow Yokoyama through the owner of HLJ. They were looking for a new name for the franchise. My friend Mark from the UK and I created the name ZbV3000 and Kow added Maschinen Krieger. That's how the series was reborn. I was fortunate enough to work on the series for some time and act in an advisory capacity. This was still a lot over the phone, different times. In this time I also worked for different model magazines and the model industry, so I was allowed to consult for the figures for the movie "Lord of the rings" or thought at that time which models could still be developed for Perry Rhodan. That was all as a freelancer, I could not live from it. All that is history, today I build models most of the time only for me, my family and very, very good friends. Most of it is SF/Fantasy, but if a model looks interesting to me, I build it. Furthermore I read comics, novels and art books from the SF/Fantasy genre and watch a lot of movies about it, if I have time for it, because the job eats a lot of time too. And the family, the garden and my kitchen, where I like to cook and bake, also need some attention.
