Some assembly still to do on the gun. The tracks are of course not yet glued but just placed there to be able to sketch out the size and configuration of the vignette
Assembly complete! Subassemblies are still seperate for painting of course... I also put the figures in place. For the two officers, I plan to drape a map over the carriage.
The raised sections where the gun-pit ends are also marked out. The dotted line shows where I may put either a caved-in section of the wall or a ladder. Some crates might me scattered around later for additional detail
The next steps will be a lot of brushpainting to enrich the groundwork with enamels as well as painting smaller details and the figures using acrylics before moving to final touches
The 152 mm Br-2 was the "gun"-part of the Soviet "Heavy Triplex" system incorporating heavy 152mm guns, 203mm howitzers and 280mm mortars on a common - and somewhat unusual - tracked carriage. Developed in the 1930s, only a small number of these powerful guns were manufactured before the start of WW2 (the 203mm Howitzer was much more common). Accordingly, service records of these guns are somewhat sketchy with one of the uses mentioned being in the Battle of Seelow Heights in April 1945.
This last setting will be the base for my diorama including ACE´s 1/72 Br-2 with some 3D printed figures from FC ModelTrend depicting an emplacment after the intitial action with one soldier resting while two others recap the engagement.
This is my entry for this year´s Towed Guns groupbuild 🙂
