Conquered Giant - Krupp Räumer S

The first phase of every diorama/vignette-related project: brainstorming what the layout will be with the Räumer S fully assembled an the resin structures roughly positioned in the background.

To cut or not to cut? I´m currently contemplating cutting some cm of the foam off the front to make the whole thing somewhat more compact, yet leaving a bit of space in the foreground might lend itself to carve a little crater with some rainwater and maybe a Pz. IV turret in it in the front corner...

The location of the crater-area is scetched in... two parts from the bits-box (Italeri Pz.IV turret and Revell Panther-mantlet) will populate it.

The layout in a more "bird´s eye"-view... Now I will use cork to as a foundation for the resin parts and to represent concrete-slabs. Some of those will obviously show a bunch of damage especially when close to the crater.

Building these sceneries always comes with a considerable mess on my small workbench... maybe I should structure my workflow a bit better to minimize that 🙂

Everything ready for painting as far as I´m concerned... I already mounted the figures to some painting handles, but I placed the small ladder for some size-comparasion with the Räumer S. The portruding foam bit is measured to slot right into a professionally made wooden base I´ve ordered. Sometimes I´d like to pretend I´m fancy 🙂

Glory to the bits-box! Some simple rusty basecoat and maybe some chipped dunkelgelb on the tank-parts shouuld be a cool little eyecatcher

...and on the base. The earth and dust tones for the ground and the rubble piles still need to be airbrushed on. Later refinement with enamels will obviously be done as well 🙂

The Räumer is fully assembled and on the base... now it´s only the figures and a couple accessories left!

New Year, new (overambitious?) projects! This one will be called "Conquered Giant" (name should explain itself in the end) and is currently in the planning stage for the final layout. I have finished TAKOM´s nice 1/72 Räumer S and positioned some resin structures in the bakground. As it will be a ruined factory buildings, there will not be any noteworthy interior, but a lot of rubble added later on.
Currently I am brainstorming wether to cut a bit of the front of the base or leave it at a larger size to carve abit of a crater in front, which I could will with some water-effects, rubble and maybe a spare Italeri Pz.IV turret I still have in my bits-box.

Building a bit of a diorama of a captured German mineclearing monstrosity having been captured by US troops now rounding up some surrendering enemy forces. Might be a bit much foe a first project of the year, but I´ve never thought of my modelling-related decisions as particulary smart... anyhow, it should be an interesting experience 👍
