Honda RA 272 1/24 Hasegawa
Engine has been dealed first
Engine , all painted with acrylics (Gunze & Tamiya)
Paint mixes for engine and exhausts
Engine and gearbox glued together
Engine and gearbox assembly
Bodywork being glued
Suspension and drive train assembled
Spark plug wires will be added from cooper wire
Sh...t happens .. I lost one admission "cone" and the carpet monster has eaten it ... even I have a wood floor and no carpet 😉
.. so I made a new one from electric wire insulation ... Looks the part ... doesn't it ?
Engine-gearbox-suspension assembly almost finished
Fuel lines have been added to the engine
Rear exhausts stack in place
And front stack too ...
I messed-up a bit with with front exhausts ,,, they are quite difficult to glue together ,,,
All exhaust glued in place .... rather difficult ... Rear stack came quite easy , but I messed-up a bit with the front stack
Full exhausts stack in place
Bodywork painted satin white from a rattle can
And glued to the floor-pan
Brake lines added from vinyl tube
Nose being glued to bodywork
Powertrain and engine cover in place.
Hinomaru decal broke in some places.
After some Microsol decal conformed to the surface but broke even more.
Hinomaru decal painted over with Tamiya gloss red .. looks quite good to me.
After a coat fo Future looks quite good ...
Some more progress ... Steering wheel and dashboard
Powertrain detail
I'm afraid engine block has been glued a bit to far back and then suspension arms from the kit are too short. I've replaced these parts with wire from a paper clip.
I messed it up ,,,, when touching up the paint on the arms , some paint went to the body. I tryed to remove with thinner and messed it much more ...
AAARRRGGGGG
Almost finished ,,,, in the end Hinomaru doesn't look so bad .... isn't it ?
Not so bad ,,,, but colour hue is just a bit different .... let's see how it turns out after the second coat
First coat to remove the offending black smudge . Brush painted in X2 Tamiya Gloss White with a touch of Gunze H21 off-white
Without flash , difference in hue is rather more evident , but it's OK to me.
Finished
Finished
Workbench cleaned ... well ... sort of 😉 ... and now .... let's start another project

Really nice engine build! 👍 I'm looking forward to see the rest of the car. 🙂

Album info
It should've been an easy project with a bit of added detail and aftermarket decals, but not to be finnished in just a Week-end.
I'm not Mike Grant.
😉
But I'd like to ,,,,,
So let's see how it turns out ,,,,
Pavla seats were discarded ... too big for the cockpit.
Interior : Tamiya XF-53 , XF-22
Seats : Tamiya XF-63 , Gunze H421
Undersides : Gunze H325
Uppersides : Gunze H27 , Gunze (20 H1+12 H27 + 3 H325
All brush painted
In the end the project took much more time than I'd expected. Not an easy shake and bake kit .... at least to me.
