I've uploaded a new version of the instructions which includes call outs for paint colours. A lot more helpful, I hope.

I've got one in my stash - will watch with interest! 🙂

Will follow with interest. Looks good!

Keep calm and carry on, John 😉 From my own experience with models from this stable I could only say that they all are deceitful - look good on sprues, but when it comes to assembly... and of course the instructions are only loosely connected with reality... (with respect to fit of the nacelles - or floats, perhaps... - I would advise you to file this off and install pieces of wire instead to keep the good join)

This looks interesting! 👀

Thanks, Robert. Thanks Bruce, (no pressure).

Torsten
I have discovered this project only now. What a bunch of work, but for that this model is later not to be outdone 😎
I am curious about the further progress.

Sorry to hear you were ill, John. I hope you are on the mend now. I'm sure you'll improve the instrument panel correction There's always a way. 👍🙂
28 November 2021, 19:57
John Hughes
Thanks, Bruce. I'm working at the limit of both eyesight and manual dexterity with 1/72 instrument panels, I'm afraid!

Watching dilligently...who would say that it is so demanding kit, looking at the sprues in the very beginning... Carry on, John!

Bruce Huxtable
If it look good to the naked eye, then.....
28 November 2021, 20:56
John Hughes
Bruce, when I take my glasses off, everything is a blur! Unless it's at the end of my nose.
28 November 2021, 20:59
Bruce Huxtable
I know the feeling, John. I think my work is fine until I see the photos on screen....
29 November 2021, 12:04
Robert Podkoński
It is good to see you back at the bench, John! A lot of modelling fun...ekhm... I predict here soon 😉
7 December 2021, 20:51
John Hughes
Thanks, Robert. I'm hoping to make a bit more progress in the coming days and, who knows, I may get it finished over the Christmas holidays. Have you seen the build of this on Youtube done on a channel called The Sloppy Modeller? It looks very impressive with lighting!
7 December 2021, 20:57
Robert Podkoński
No, I have not seen this. Can you share the link? With respect to the model - is there so much difference in shape between the "radiator" and fuselage as it looks when dry-fitted?
7 December 2021, 21:03
John Hughes
The radiator is not as bad as it looks. It had just slipped a bit.
7 December 2021, 22:35
Thomas Kolb
Oops, I just thought to myself, you will need to sand off every little bit of detail to get that radiator to sit flush with the fuselage. Good that it isn't so! Keep up the good work!
8 December 2021, 05:09
Robert Podkoński
Thanks, John 🙂

Happy viewing Robert. There's about 2 hours worth there over all three videos, so you might want to get some popcorn from the lobby first!

Robert Podkoński
Maybe it would be easier to manufacture new windshield from CD box or something like that, John?
31 December 2021, 13:19
Robert Podkoński
Any progress here, John? Hope you do not have enough of it already.
24 January 2022, 14:23
John Hughes
No, Robert, no further progress. I have put it to one side for the moment.
24 January 2022, 14:29
Robert Podkoński
Ok. But not for too long, I hope?
24 January 2022, 15:19
John Hughes
We'll have to see Robert. I've moved to doing the BA-20 for now and have also bought a second 357 if this attempt proves unsalvageable!
24 January 2022, 15:22
Thomas Kolb
John, I understand the feeling. I hope you will get back to it, it is such a cool project!
24 January 2022, 18:23
John Hughes
Good News! A new sprue of clear parts arrived this morning from AMP. This project can now get underway agian at some point.
28 January 2022, 11:35

Looking forward to it, John!

Look great
15 March 2022, 21:17
Robert Podkoński
I just have been going to ask about the progress on this kit... 😉
16 March 2022, 13:20
John Hughes
Don't panic, Robert! I'm back on the case at last. Now that the BA-20 is finished, I'm ready to tackle this again.
16 March 2022, 20:34
Bruce Huxtable
Your labour of love is coming together really well, John. I'm loving the dramatic view in No 63 🙂
17 March 2022, 11:48
John Hughes
Thanks, Bruce. I couldn't resist seeing if that shot would work out, but it did.
17 March 2022, 13:03
Villiers de Vos
A very interesting project.
17 March 2022, 17:39
John Hughes
It's interesting when it's not being a bit of a trial, Villiers.
17 March 2022, 18:54
Villiers de Vos
Judging your progress, you will succeed.
19 March 2022, 02:06
Torsten
The kit is really challenging, all the more nice to see how well you got everything in line, kudos 👍
19 March 2022, 06:41
Jv
Hard to believe you got over the worst of it
Looks like great pain all the way
Not for the faint hearted
19 March 2022, 07:05
Villiers de Vos
Flawless.
20 March 2022, 04:58
John Hughes
Unfortunately not, Villiers. Plenty of liquid putty went on afterwards to correct various seams, dips and so on.
20 March 2022, 11:29
Jv
Its going to be a stunning model
20 March 2022, 11:42
John Hughes
Fingers crossed, Jv!
20 March 2022, 13:24
Jv
Yep its not been an easy build
I bit to much for me but its interesting to follow your build and I think we can already call it a success
Looking forward to see how you finish it up
20 March 2022, 13:33
John Hughes
Now paused awaiting delivery of paint...
20 March 2022, 15:42
Jv
Just drop in i got a bit of paint lol
20 March 2022, 16:07
Robert Podkoński
You're a true wizard, John! It is great to see that this kit is buildable 😉
26 March 2022, 20:17
John Hughes
Thanks, Robert. Probably a bad time to mention that I've got to remask and respray it after polishing the aluminium a little too hard...
26 March 2022, 20:36
Torsten
You have my admiration, great what you do with it, I decided not to get this kit, but continue to follow with enthusiasm. In the end you will have a very rare model in the collection 👍
27 March 2022, 06:48
Robert Podkoński
I already have it in my stash... and I am more and more reluctant... 😉
27 March 2022, 10:29
John Hughes
Thanks, Torsten. It's a challenge to be sure, but not beyond most modellers.
Robert, I'm sure you will make an excellent model of it, as usual!
27 March 2022, 11:42
Robert Podkoński
Thank you, John, you're too kind... Of course one day I'll give it a try... 😉
27 March 2022, 13:39
John Hughes
I've been looking at the paint/decal instructions. They show a row of exhaust ports on the outside of each engine/float, just aft of the pylon. There's even a colour call-out for them. Can anyone spot them on the kit? No, me neither! For that matter, the tiny fin on the top has the spike pointing forwards on the instructions, but backwards on the parts. The panels on top of the pylons are shown the same colour grey as the float underside, but the call out says dark iron like the exhaust nozzles. The star near the nose is shown red, but there is neither a paint call out or decal for this. The moulding of it is a bit vague, so painting it could be interesting to say the least! Oh, and the circular wheel shown on the top hatch? Nowhere to be seen in the plastic. There were clearly a lot of design changes during the production of this kit, but they didn't get fed back into the instructions.
27 March 2022, 18:32
Robert Podkoński
Thanks for pointing these out, John! As far as I have notices, the shape and finish of "anti-slip" panels on the wings is totally different in the instructions and in the model, too...
27 March 2022, 19:54
John Hughes
Yes, Robert. The instructions seem to show a criss-cross pattern om the panels which is missing in the actual parts.
27 March 2022, 19:56
Bruce Huxtable
She's looking sharper and sharper, John 🙂 Great work with your polishing cloth 🙂
28 March 2022, 10:30
John Hughes
Thanks, Bruce. It turned out better than I had expected.
28 March 2022, 18:06
Torsten
Looks better and better 👍
29 March 2022, 07:10
Robert Podkoński
You're approaching the finish line presumably, John!
30 March 2022, 19:05
John Hughes
Yes, Robert. I'm geting closer by the day!
30 March 2022, 19:13
Torsten
Looks so good 👍
31 March 2022, 07:58
Bruce Huxtable
I can't wait for the Grand Un-veiling, John, she's looking so cool already 🙂
31 March 2022, 09:27
Bruce Huxtable
Will you try to find alternatives for the exhausts?
31 March 2022, 09:28
Robin (WhiteGlint)
👀 👍
31 March 2022, 10:20
John Hughes
Thanks, guys. I don't think I'll add the exhaust, Bruce. I'm not convinced they belong there on the side of a jet engine!
31 March 2022, 11:47
Bruce Huxtable
🙂 Good point, John. A bit like go-faster stripes on a Reliant Robin..... 😉
31 March 2022, 15:02
Villiers de Vos
All that hard work paid off. Very nicely done.
7 April 2022, 03:48
John Hughes
Thanks, Villiers. I'm in the final stretch now, I think.
7 April 2022, 19:50
Robert Podkoński
You've finished it, John! Congrats! Looks great!
