Italeri Convair B-58 Hustler
Comments
Very nice! Looks like you managed to fill all the panel lines. I am almost through with that on mine 🙂
Thanks a lot for your comments ... I'll try to post some more info and pics about this model.
Just added a couple of pictures. Saddly this model 'crash-landed' during the move to my new flat in Barcelona, so it no longer exists.
🙁
The books by Jay Miller are amongst the best aerospace literature I've seen. From both the modeler's and the engineer's view. His book on the Hustler is unmatched, same goes for his books on the F-16 and the U-2 in the same series (Aerograph).
You're right Burkhard ,,,, Jay Miller Aerofax series are a must for the serious modeller and/or enthusiast. I happen to own the whole seires from National Air Guard to A-3 and I enjoy reading them from time to time ,,, even if the subject doesn't fall into my usual preferences .... 100x100 recommended
Album info
Built quite a long time ago (1990). Painted with my own mixes of Humbrol Metalcote ennamel (see painting schemes).
Mods :
Detailed cockpit : new instrument panel from scratch, bang seats modified to earlier model, DSO panel modified, and side consoles added from scratch. Detailed undecarriage. Drilled gun muzzles. Decals from Microscale sheet 72-470, IPMS USA, & Letraset dry transfers.
It took me about 50 hours to finish .... most of that time was spent trying to get a reallistic bare metal finnish. At that 'ancient' times no internet was available (at least not to me) ... so most of the information came from these books and magazines :
Aerofax 4 which is a MUST to any B-58 freak.
Aero Series book was also very helpful.
Fanatique de l'Aviation.
