No wonder I hate using primer, leaves that wonderful orange peel. Alas, Hasegawas nearly see through orange plastic required a cover coat.

I feel sorry for the step back bossy122. Pick yourself up and get back on your horse! 👍. And I guess you're right Julian, but then again it also looks like a Sauber C9 or aToyota 88C 🙂. All the manufacturers were searching the holy grail of group C "aero" in the same direction 🙂

Thankfully, an overnight soak in 91% alcohol stripped the 10+ coats of TS colors, so, if I did it once, theoretically I should be able to do it again. Keep watching!

Take 2 on the orange and green. So far, so good. Oh! I used decanted TS96 fluo orange. First time i've ever tried decanting. The paint looked exactly like the fluid in my Peach Nehi bottle and still took several coats to build that color up.

Got it all striped up....what fun! Hasegawas decals aren't the best, while trying to get the bubbles out of the black, it ripped in several spots. I had to touch it up with a brush (yuck!).

I would HIGHLY recommend getting after market decals. I may have to go back and retry this kit with different decals...along with any future Hasegawa kits I build. But I do appreciate the appreciation, thanks!

I have the 787b as a project (the Le Mans winner) Aftermarket decals are essential for the project, because I will build it from this kit

But thanks for the tip anyway! 👍

Tamiya uses Cartograph so those shouldn't be as bad. Hasegawa doesn't appear to use Cartograph and it shows. Having said that, I have their Charge 787B and I have Shunko decals for it ( just in case ; ) )

Interesting that the kit instructions call for the wheels to be black with chrome rims but every pic I could find had gold wheels with chrome rims, so...Spaz chrome looks good, huh?

All done. Wrestled the pain in the ass glass bits into place, and done. Get some better pics of it when I have more light available. Now I can move on to something else!

Thank you. It's funny, i thought the hard part would be masking and painting but that was a breeze. Assembling the few pieces together was a whole other story.
