I'd love if I could find a 2017/18 quad cab F-150 to build. I'd rip the work body off the Mobius kit that's coming out and make my old work truck.

Wish I had any scratch-build materials, a light bar would be cool... and yes I know there's probably resin light bars or whatever for sale. Not the same as making.
Just fyi, I just bought Zero-Paints color-matched Lime Green for Brian's Eclipse, so that'll be one of my next projects 😛 .

I usually start thinking about the next project about half-way through the current one. So I can buy colors, study the instructions if they're wacky like the 300SL (unfortunately it still snowballed) and be mostly good to go after an interim day or two, and dig in. Today would be such a day, all I've is project setup/project art, album setup and snapped a few pics and rounded up people to watch like moths to a flame 😛 . For me this is similar in time spent as a full-time job, probably more so. It just clears my mind of all my problems, and I love it... and to be honest I'm scared of what is waiting in my mind when I stop. So I push on...

Someone suggested using a tea ball infuser to filter out the paint boogers and such... I grabbed the infuser I use with the fish tank to thaw out bloodworms, cocked it open and made a perch for it on my clean pot. If it works out well, I'll buy some cheap ball tea infusers (without the handle) and crack them open so that half the ball can freely sit on the paint cup... Then my fishes can have their infuser back.

They are just called tea ball infusers, or loose leaf infuser ball. Here's 12 for $12, meaning 24 halves to use before you have to clean with alcohol/cleaner. amazon.com/dp/B01MSNHV76/ There are also 2-3 packs as well for $8-9... You can also probably find them in the cooking gadget section of grocery stores/department stores.

Less confusing instructions this time, yay. Also, pieces snipped and sanded... now stick time... then primer time 🙂

White's been primed up. This kit has a fairly detailed interior for a skill 2. Been thinking of a good color combo. I came up with Silver Grey FS37150 as the base color then Dark Sea Grey FS36231 for details (seats, armrests, center console and the dash console).

By the way, the tea ball makes a great strainer! Just shoot thinner through the ball after the color and poof, no waste.

Running out of kit parking spots in my current plexiglass fixtures. Grabbed some L-brackets... bent them to approx 110d, cut plexi to fit, screws in the wall, nuts and bolts through the plexi. House 4 vehicles per shelf for 20 more spots 🙂. It's kiddie corner to the truck shelves I built over the door, you can see the tail end of the Blue Shark.

Very creative Chris. My new cabinet had lots of empty space so I found four more 10x36" tempered glass shelves for $53 + free shipping. I am just waiting for the new pegs to come in the mail. Keep on building'!

We acquired about 10 sheets of acrylic that were going to be thrown away. So I make everything out of it. Even if it's not 100% classy/clean looking, it's functional and the slope lets people see the cars up top. I Think I did really good bending all those brackets to the same degree by eye/hand. brackets were $16 (I still have 6 left too) and my stock of nuts and bolts ran dry so I bought 60 more of each for $15 (I still have 30ish left) I have enough for 2-3 more shelves.

Working from the inside out, next will be body color, then all the black/steel colors for the suspension/misc parts.

Thanks James, I like how it turned out. I kind of surprised myself when I took the masking off of the tub and there were very few touch-ups needed... Body color time.

The instructions call for "Flat Grey" as the color for the entire interior, but there were too many details to not at least do a 2-tone... I could've done something with the seat design, but I left it as most interiors I googled were just single or 2-tone.

I was really surprised at the price.... I usually pay $3-4 shipped for Vallejo 17ml bottles... This ZeroPaint is 60ml and it was only $13 shipped.

Other news -- ZeroPaints are a solvent based paint. What (product name) do I need to clean the airbrush? As of now my whole color range is acrylics... So I have no solvent based supplies... Hoping for a cheap clean.. (wiper or brake fluid or ISO? any of those?) How about thinner? (product name/type) to use, again going for cheap. Thanks All!

Cleaning is the Same as with acrylics, a bit easier even. Just beware, the seals in your airbrush might not be solvent proof. Check that first, or you might have to remove them before cleaning! Or replace them after

I use the Iwata cleaner, should I be good with that? and I have a extra set of o-rings so I should be good on that front. The zp.co m site says anything that contains Toluene is good... I just want to make sure I have the right product, or a product that'll work.

The truck body has been detailed, next is gloss, panel lines, then I have to build up the truck enough so the bed and cab are connected properly because the decals go the length of the body... then gloss over for final protection and building.

For acrylics I use Revell aqua clean or Vallejo airbrush cleaner. For the oil based stuff alclad thinner or mr thinner or Ammo odourless thinner.
Interestingly enough, the Revell aqua clean is the only one that really gets dried paint from my palette.....
Wim van der Luijt uses a self made concoction, but he works at a chemical plant and might be knowing what he's doing 😉
Every once in a while I put my airbrush in my ultrasonic cleaner. Just to keep her in shape.
Car looks great by the way, before I forget 🙂

Well, ran into a sticky mess... somehow during my clear spray session with Future. The stuff got into the back half of my brush without me knowing and I cleaned the front half (paint rarely gets into the back half so I don't clean often) and put the brush away for the night... Woke up to shoot the 2nd clear and oh no... The trigger was stuck, the quick connect valve was stuck open pushing 100% air... So a 100% field strip and and clean 🙁

Built the engine, Put the glass and interior tub into the cab, and finished the tailgate. 4 steps of chassis and suspensions, then wheel assembly, and final assembly.

I put one hub on backwards on accident, then I did a right one... I didn't like the center of the hub, so I put them on all backwards... So yes and no... it was a happy little accident. I guess I could have probably dug in the hub box you sent me for better looking hubs, but I like this.
