Initial construction started. Detail is ver' ver' good, but again fit issues. Upper wings will not mate up, creating a gap on the leading edge. Due to the locating pins, wheel well bulkheads causing misalignment. Solved by filing top of said bulkhead and removing the locating pins. How many clamps do you need? Everyone (well not everyone) raves about Eduard, but fit issues again. Had to clamp and strap after mating the fuselage's otherwise the cockpit interior, bulkhead and engine would of popped the front open. I can already see a step has formed at the rear, bottom and top. . . . . . . . I might take up Lego or origami instead! The areas marked are where I butchered, fettled, skimmed and filled, correcting the pivot on the belly plate. Just a coat of primer to see where I need to further sand. Base coat and camo' down, first attempt at mottling freehand, gloss coat applied. Decaling done copious amounts of Decalfix applied and I hope it's the carrier film that is deadening the colour on the decals. Twenty four hours from now I will attempt to remove the carrier film. Then wash, weathering and post shading. Well. . . . . . . That's it done. The build was a pig, the decal colour does not match the Defence of the Reich Band, it would of been better left transparent. The carrier film has been left on most of the decals and I flatted them as much as possible. I'm quite pleased with the outcome, to put it midly. This is the Mount of Ltn. Norbert Graziade, Red 2. 5. (Sturm) JG 300, Lobnitz, Germany, October 1944.
