Ideas

Being designed as the first ship of a potential "Type C"-class of dstroyers for the IJN, the Shimakaze was built in 1942 on a basic design derived from the Yugumo-class, yet being somewhat longer and fitted with three quintuple torpedo-tubes and improved high-pressure boilers making her able to beat the 40kn-mark on test-runs. In contrast to the initial plans to build 16 additional improved Type C-DDs, Shimakaze remained the sole example of the type when on 30th June 1942 changes in plans turned the 16 planned vessels into additional Yugumos and V7s (improved Akizuki).

The kit used will be the Pit-Road offering, as I like to build my ships with full hulls. Additionally, I might add some Tetra photoetch parts to improve detail.
