Thank you! Really great kit, so many details, that you don`t want to hide, but you should. Especially it will be very pity to hide the engine. I thought about cutting some panels, but decided just to make upper hull sliding without gluening. But the less you show, the less you need to apply weathering, which I`m not skillful enough.)

Dear Dishonest Penguin, I have the same model in my stash and plan on building it in 2019. I have to say you have gone through a lot of putty, a fair warning on what I am facing. That said, you have done a wonderful job with this build, very complex and challenging. I can only hope I can do half as good a job. Are you going to leave her a factory built or with a little wear and tear? I am thinking mine will be a factory finish. Please keep the updates coming, I will follow with interest.

Thanks for the comment, Peter!
I think I'll add some chips and pigments with wash, but it won`t be strong effects. But first I need to paint and collect ammo - that's where the "fun" is.... Then, I plan to glue the rest of turret and paint its interior. And after that I will finally decide which color scheme outside I want to see.
Regarding the putty, I wouldn`t say that I had to use it really much, most of all I was worried about the breech of the gun, the most notable place in the turret and so badly cast! About the traces of pushers in the ceiling or in the floor, you need to think whether they will be seen, and whether the model will be collapsible, so that someone really could see them. For example, traces of pushers on the floor should not be touched at all, only those that are on the front lower front part, the transmission will not hide them completely, but if the body is glued tight - then who will see them at all? And about the putty on small elements, well, there were worse things in other models, it`s annoyingly but it is okay.
I did not do the weathering on the engine until gluing into place - it was clear from the beginning that only I would see results only during the assembly process, and those who can see the photos, because I didn`t want to saw the hull.
The installation of the engine was really terrible, at some point I thought it would be much easier to paste the engine into place first, and then paint, rather than combining the painted parts and all these tubes. I will even recommend not to glue even both side walls of the engine compartment before installing the engine.

So big comment, I should make some notes to photos.

Hi, Cracka! I sent a PM, but maybe it didn't show up, because we are not mates, still, here is a link: track-link.com/forums/site_blogs/29816/flat It's a build of Takom's KT in the internet, and there are mentioned all problems during the build. It is about an early production box, so several mistakes were already fixed in my box, and I had less changes on correction list.

Hi Mate, nope, didn't get a PM. Maybe we should be mates and then there won't be a reoccurrence of the problem! Thanks for the link. Kerry would be looking over my shoulder when I build this as he has has his published in Scalemodeller. Mine is an early production too, got it cheap when first released and put it away until my skills improved. I have built the AFV T34 with full interior but it was heavily weathered. My KT will be straight from the factory and with cut outs. Scary stuff but I have a plan!

This TAKOM series of the King Tiger really is an opportunity for so many ways of showing what they consisted of and I was tempted to build the 'shell' as a stand alone unit, but have the turret internals as a static display in it's self along with the engine on a work stand situation that could all be one big display piece in it's own right. It's been good to see what you have done with yours, a most enjoyable build. 🙂
Cheers.

It`s great, when you have a friend and can give advices each other.
Just completed viewing Kerry`s KingTiger. He was cheating, he had a spare Tiger for mistakes in surgery 🙂
Takom did a great model for beginner like me, but in case of Porsche turret version, was little lazy to correct some differences.

Busted. Jeez, I can never get away with a damb thing any more. Grrrrr. LOL hahahaha 🙂
But wait till you see what I did with the second kit Robber. 👍
I will be competing with both of them at this years QMHE in Brisbane.
But you wont see it here until after the comp. 🙂

Oh lord. The detail....overwhelmed.....feeling light headed.....walk towards the light. Absolutely amazing. May have to invest in one of these. Looking good so far.
