I've uploaded a new version of the instructions which includes call outs for paint colours. A lot more helpful, I hope.

Keep calm and carry on, John 😉 From my own experience with models from this stable I could only say that they all are deceitful - look good on sprues, but when it comes to assembly... and of course the instructions are only loosely connected with reality... (with respect to fit of the nacelles - or floats, perhaps... - I would advise you to file this off and install pieces of wire instead to keep the good join)

I have discovered this project only now. What a bunch of work, but for that this model is later not to be outdone 😎
I am curious about the further progress.

Sorry to hear you were ill, John. I hope you are on the mend now. I'm sure you'll improve the instrument panel correction There's always a way. 👍🙂

Thanks, Bruce. I'm working at the limit of both eyesight and manual dexterity with 1/72 instrument panels, I'm afraid!

Thanks, Robert. I'm hoping to make a bit more progress in the coming days and, who knows, I may get it finished over the Christmas holidays. Have you seen the build of this on Youtube done on a channel called The Sloppy Modeller? It looks very impressive with lighting!

No, I have not seen this. Can you share the link? With respect to the model - is there so much difference in shape between the "radiator" and fuselage as it looks when dry-fitted?

The radiator is not as bad as it looks. It had just slipped a bit.

Oops, I just thought to myself, you will need to sand off every little bit of detail to get that radiator to sit flush with the fuselage. Good that it isn't so! Keep up the good work!

Happy viewing Robert. There's about 2 hours worth there over all three videos, so you might want to get some popcorn from the lobby first!

We'll have to see Robert. I've moved to doing the BA-20 for now and have also bought a second 357 if this attempt proves unsalvageable!

Unfortunately not, Villiers. Plenty of liquid putty went on afterwards to correct various seams, dips and so on.

I bit to much for me but its interesting to follow your build and I think we can already call it a success
Looking forward to see how you finish it up

Robert, I'm sure you will make an excellent model of it, as usual!

I've been looking at the paint/decal instructions. They show a row of exhaust ports on the outside of each engine/float, just aft of the pylon. There's even a colour call-out for them. Can anyone spot them on the kit? No, me neither! For that matter, the tiny fin on the top has the spike pointing forwards on the instructions, but backwards on the parts. The panels on top of the pylons are shown the same colour grey as the float underside, but the call out says dark iron like the exhaust nozzles. The star near the nose is shown red, but there is neither a paint call out or decal for this. The moulding of it is a bit vague, so painting it could be interesting to say the least! Oh, and the circular wheel shown on the top hatch? Nowhere to be seen in the plastic. There were clearly a lot of design changes during the production of this kit, but they didn't get fed back into the instructions.

Thanks for pointing these out, John! As far as I have notices, the shape and finish of "anti-slip" panels on the wings is totally different in the instructions and in the model, too...

Yes, Robert. The instructions seem to show a criss-cross pattern om the panels which is missing in the actual parts.
