Looks like it has some camouflage painting on the sides, the part where the star is painted loom lighter than the part of the snorkel arrangement. 

First step is drilling holes, and many of them 🙂 

Hull glued, fit is near perfect  

There are some annoying pin marks that cause fit issues and needs additional work.
The ones here cause a small gap in the drive shaft housing. There are also pin marks on the snorkel and the forward torpedo tubes that need work in order to get it smooth.  

Torpedo doors in the open position. Also note the over scale weld seams. 

GHG receiver balcony needed quite some work as it is a multi part moulding.
I used plastic strip to sort the gap between the balcony and the keel. 

Added the anti radar material and the 'Bali 1' antenna to the snorkel. 

 

 

 

With some paint on it looks ok

Why are there knockout pin marks on the periscopes Revell? 2024 tooling should be better than this?

Tried to paint a couple of petite figures, on camera they look quite terrible.

This was a fun project, but the kit would really benefit from an update set with more in-scale parts.
