Vinyl tracks are definitely the hair shirt of otherwise decent old Tamiya kits, a legacy of their being motorized toys back when they were first made.

Yes, but in a way sometimes I like that vinyl tracks for their simplicity.

Yes if you're not hung up on super detailing the tracks, the "rubber band" beats working with a hundred little links that's for sure. It's just getting paint to stick to the vinyl that's painful.
