Recently added this bird to my stash. Was looking for a lo-vis version. In the box there is two CAG birds both (half) hi-vis. And a lo-vis version which comes with background information and the info that is there (the lo-vis option would have been part of VS-31 US Navy Squadron), seems to be wrong.
With quite some effort I found the possible roots of this bird and two photo's of the NK-703 (none of this NK-704). They are part of VS-35 (not VS-31), probably early Blue Wolves and their tail markings depict a frontal of a wolves head with details, whereas the decals provide a solid grey frontal of a wolfs' head. Also the squadron indication (VS-35) is missing as wel as the "04" that would have been on the tail top. Approximate date this type was active: 1994.
Not too sure where/how Italeri and/or Cartograf did their research. I have not consulted any books on the Viking or VS-35, but the version provided seems a bit odd.
